Deep Tissue Massage addresses specific areas of chronic patterns of muscle tension and discomfort by using deep, focused massage strokes to stretch tight muscles and relieve tension.
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as relaxation therapy, but the is slower movement and deeper pressure is concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).
Deep Tissue is designed to relieve muscles of scarring and adhesions that cause pain and limited range of motion, reduce pain and swelling after injury, and increase ease and range of motion.
